  1. Let’s face it–Dickens was a depressing writer. A Christmas Carol is a fairly uncharacteristic work–one with a happy ending, in which no sympathetic character dies.

  2. This year I read A Christmas Carol in its original for the first time and was shocked at all the spooky elements in it. I mean, the ghosts were really ghostly, not the Disney-ized charactures I grew up with.
