It looks about as deep as the Aliens & Monsters movie. "Let's celebrate our differences and not fight each other, okay?"
Let's have some heroic movies for a change.
I remember now a dragon story I read as a child in Tales of the Kingdom by Karen Mains. The best stories in that book deal with a child who disobediently keeps a dragon egg, hoping to make a pet of the dragon as it grows, but it proves itself to be a wild, dangerous animal and sets the whole place on fire.
Now that I'm talking about it, I remember a true story of a family in Africa who had a cheetah adopt them. They may have saved its life when it was young, I don't remember, but they emphasized it being a wild cat, not a big kitty. They could pet it and love on it, but they gave it plenty of space, knowing that it could kill the children whenever it wanted to.
Phil, I remember being chilled by the same Tales of the Kingdom story. Thanks for jogging my memory.
Ah yes, one of those "everything you know about x is wrong" stories.
- maybe someone should write a story about a 'traditional' society of dragons, where everyone is taught that humans are evil creatures, etc. Then someone comes along and says, "everything you've been taught about humans is wrong. They're actually sweet and lovable, and wouldn't hurt a fly... let alone one of us dragons."
- I see Neil Gaiman has children's book out about a viking lad. (Odd and the frost giants) It appears to be dragon deficient.
Maybe the upcoming "Hobbit" movie will help balance the dragon issue. Let's hope so.
