This circumstance forces me to come up with creative ideas for the blog, and blast it, Jim, I\u2019m an author, not a creator!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My work on <em>The Baldur Game<\/em> proceeds on schedule. I\u2019m nearing the final climax \u2013 the Battle of Stiklestad. So I thought I\u2019d look for a YouTube video about the battle. Informational for you and I can always use more local color. But, oddly enough, there aren\u2019t any YouTube videos on the subject that I consider much good. Someone should address this need, which will doubtless become acute once <em>The Baldur Game<\/em> is an international bestseller and a Major Motion Picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But my searches led me to the holiday of<em> \u00d3lavs\u00f8ka<\/em>, the great national holiday in the Faroe Islands (it\u2019s the celebration of the feast of St. Olav, not coincidentally on the anniversary of the battle). I\u2019ve reviewed a couple of Chris Ould\u2019s Faroes mystery novels (which I\u2019m enjoying a lot) recently, so I thought I\u2019d post a video about that event. But most of the videos I found were just shots of people in folk costumes walking through the streets of Torshaven. Perfectly good in their place, but I wanted something with a little more scenery. I finally found the video above, which I think rather nice. Here is another place I\u2019d like to visit someday, though it\u2019s becoming increasingly unlikely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.
