The problem? “There’s just too much going on. I couldn’t keep track of the characters, and frankly didn’t find them interesting enough to keep track of.”

If I recall correctly, Picadilly Jim is an early work, written before Wodehouse had really formed his style.
An classic example of early Wodehouse, the plot is convoluted , yes ,but all the plot points come together in the end in a way that only Wodehouse can imagine.
Jimmy crocker is the typical Wodehouse protagonist.
