A lady at the library turned to me out of the blue today and asked what I might recommend that she and her husband listen to on a long trip. I thought if I asked a few clarifying questions that I might be able to help her out. It didn’t work. She knew less than I did. That made me feel pretty good. I wondered if I could write about that encounter. Turns out I can’t.

I have to agree about liking the characters in a work. I just finished a novel by a well-known author and I feel so disloyal. My lack of connection with the characters has left me…the only word that fits is vexed. I don’t dislike them but I really don’t care what happened to them either.
Maybe I should read it again. But I have a deadline, a turkey to cook, and so many other books to read! *pulls hair*
