There’ll never be another Judith Durham…

There’s much talk today of the death of Olivia Newton-John, the famous Australian singer. And that’s appropriate. She was a great talent (not to mention a heartthrob for my generation).

But I just learned of the death, last Friday, of another great Australian singer. Judith Durham of the Seekers succumbed to a long-standing lung condition. She was 79.

According to what I’ve read, Miss Durham was a Christian who hesitated at first to go into secular music because she was committed to Gospel.

The Seekers’ music was unique. I hope it lasts forever, because it sure means a lot to this old man.

Rest in peace.

  1. I just listened to Georgia girl and it brought and it brought back memories. I had just learned about Judith’s death and felt sad when I learned about it. However I was comforted to know that she was a Christian. She will be greatly missed.

  2. Rest in peace beautiful lady. I graduated high school in 68. I suppose I must have been so self involved that I didn’t pay much mind to Judith, but I rediscovered her a while back and began to realize just how much beauty i had been missing all that time, and now she’s gone. I know I’ll never find another you. Such a sweet heart gone forever.

    1. I’m a similar case. Never really paid much attention to the Seekers when they were big, but gradually realized their greatness after years had passed.

  3. Judith Durham and the seekers were absolutely a fabulous group. When I hear then singing it’s such a beautiful sound, a sound that will never be recreated They were a clean cut group and I can listen to their music all day As for the death of Judith Durham it was not just a loss to Australia her death was a loss to the world.
