With ADHD you read and do with purpose only for concentration (not because YOU say so) and then hyper focus can kick in with rapid-fire speed in understanding like spinning
It’s been a long time since I’ve read The Machine Stops, but doesn’t Forster allow a little gleam of hope in the story? Seems as if the main character’s son spoke of people living on the surface.
“The Machine Stops”? I think the comparison is strained. I don’t recall any sense of eco-catastrophe in Forster’s world, despite what the blogger suggests; I recall it as being due to laziness. And despite what the original blogger says, the machine *doesn’t* break down in Wall-E.
Overweight people living alone in their rooms communicating with others only by screen; yeah, that much is true. Beyond that, I don’t see it.
I LOVE “The Machine Stops”!
Now I MUST go see WALL-E.
GM to you too at 10am today
Wall-e reminded me of us
That’s a long story

So BUT why bother?
Wall-E totally looks like the robot from “Short Circuit”… minus the cheesy 80’s style of course
