Has a nice ring to it, but I think it could be taken too far by perfectionists. Nobody has time or energy to achieve excellence in every single endeavor of his life. We have to prioritize and decide what’s important, things over which we must take pains; and what’s secondary or trivial, worth only minor attention.
I was going to ask if it is really possible to be deliberately mediocre, but Lars’ comment brought me up short on that.
Dern it, now I’m going to have to think about this.
Someone has said, “Only the mediocre are always at their best.”
