Homer’s Odyssey: How Dumb Is the Crew?

Here’s my attempt at a video review of Homer’s Odyssey. I’d like to make a series of one-star reviews of classics. I may not be smart enough to pull it off. May not be dumb enough either. Let me know if you enjoy it and any other comments you wish to share.

  1. I really liked the musical about the shoot-’em-up part by Claude Somebody-or-Other, too!

      1. Monteverdi’s l ritorno d’Ulisse in patria – I saw a jolly production on Dutch television years ago! Its Wikipedia article says “Penelope now states that she will accept the suitor who is able to string Ulisse’s bow. All three suitors attempt the task unsuccessfully. The disguised Ulisse then asks to try though renouncing the prize of Penelope’s hand, and to everyone’s amazement he succeeds. He then angrily denounces the suitors and, summoning the names of the gods, kills all three with the bow: ‘This is how the bow wounds! To death, to havoc, to ruin!”” I remember it as gloriously slaughterous!

But I think Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with its “Sobbin’ Women” gave me the idea of treating it as a musical in keeping with your lively review!

        1. Ok, I get you now. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was a ripping good musical. The athletic dancing shaped my imagination.
