The Times said, “White House Philosophy Stoked Mortgage Bonfire.” The White House replies that the Times wrote the story they wanted to write, spot-quoting only those words that supported their prejudice.

… the Times wrote the story they wanted to write …
And this differs from how the NYT normally reports in which way?
This time they accidentally attacked a Democrat.
Quote: From what I can tell, the nation’s largest newspaper hasn’t publicly responded to the White House accusations.
Actually, that is their response. If the NY Times doesn’t cover it, it’s really not news and no other “legitimate” media outlet will cover it either.
For the life of me I do not know why so many have a problem with the NYT.
I have using their editorial page to pick up after ‘Alvin’, my Golden Retriever and I have absolutely no complaints.
‘Alvin’ isn’t too crazy about my choice, but he’s a dog and doesn’t have a say in the matter.
I don’t think there can be any question that official gov. policy fueled the sub-prime mortage problem. (Who is responsible I don’t know.) It was gov. policy to give loans to people who could never meet them. (There’s a great deal of commentary on this at Mises.org)
– when the State floods the economy with paper bills, this inevitably produced bubbles.
