I doubt history plays much into this storyline, and since no character will really die if he gets stabs, the animated violence is pretty thick. Skarin is the hero’s name. That’s Swedish, I believe, but is it Norse?

Trailers like this take me back to my childhood. I believe I spent too much of it staring at a TV with controller in hand.
I havent heard of this one. If Creative Assembly is behind it, then it must be good. They have been making great historical based games successfully for a long time, although they really havent done one quite like this.
As far as I know, Skarin is an entirely made up word; possibly created by slicing up “Skardi” and “Thorin” and stitching the bleeding halves together.
But thanks for posting this. It gives me a subject to write about tonight. Details above in a few minutes.
Question:
Is Thorin an actual, pre-Tolkien name?
I guess it makes sense that it would be, but I’d always thought it was in the same category as “Bilbo” or “Galadriel.”
In fact, Tolkien borrowed the names of his dwarves (and some other characters) from the Icelandic eddas. Thorin is a dwarf’s name from one of the lists.
