Skjaldborg’s fighting rules allow for head shots, which my group forbids (though it happens, as witness the nice dent I’ve got in my helmet, above the right eye). For that reason, they insist on 12 gauge steel helmets (mine is 16, I think). And they get clocked from time to time.
I was surprised by their ferocity. I watched this one after an interesting by slow-paced demonstration by some Renaissance guys.
Speed and controlled violence are the hallmarks of the Skjaldborg style. Oddly enough, injuries are rare.
