Andrew Klavan’s new Young Adult novel, The Last Thing I Remember, will be released by Thomas Nelson on April 28, according to this interview (Part 1) over at Big Hollywood.
This naturally raises an interesting dilemma for you, the discerning but budget-savvy consumer.
Because my novel, West Oversea, is scheduled for release this month, too. (Or in May anyway. June at the latest.)
So where do you spend your hard-earned book-buying dollar?
I’ll make it easy for you. Buy my book. For the following comprehensive, compelling reasons.
1) Andrew Klavan is already famous. I’m still behind Thorstein Veblen in the list of famous people who grew up in Kenyon, Minnesota. And I’m getting old.
2) Klavan is bald. I have a handsome, thick head of healthy gray hair. The implications should be obvious.
3) Klavan’s book will come out in paperback eventually. Mine will be paperback from the git-go.
I rest my case.
You do drive a hard bargain.
Normally, I spend my hard earned book money at the thrift store on half price Wednesday.
I shall have to make an exception.
No brainer. I’ll buy yours.
How about I buy one of Andy K’s and two of yours?
I think if you grow out both gray hair and a gray beard your book sales will double. Though I’ll still buy only one copy at first.
Personally, Klavan’s rich enough that I only buy his books as used paperbacks. The wait is annoying at times but does allow me to buy more books.
I do have a beard, and I keep my hair relatively long, for Viking purposes.
I am going bald, so that was a net loss in the argument.
But I’ve never heard of that other dude and Lars Walker -well- everyone’s heard of Lars Walker.
So fame wins out.
Oh, look what snuck in through the doggie door!
Inquiring minds want to know: Is West Oversea available for pre-order?
By the way, does anybody know where I can get some cheap Lord of the Rings gold online?
I have a mind to leave that spam, so that the context of your comments will be preserved, but then the cockroaches would move in and we’d have to call a blog cleaning service or something.
I’m not aware of any way of pre-ordering WO. But it shouldn’t be long to wait now.
No, seriously.
Best to remove the rubbish. Besides, I’m not sure that people don’t usually dismiss my ramblings as meaningless anyway.
4) Klavan’s publisher neglected to put a viking ship on the cover.
Evidently they fell prey to one of the classic blunders.
🙂
Your reasons are undoubtedly specious, so I find them persuasive.
