This may go along with Ori’s link in the previous post. Atheists don’t appear to be more rational than their opponents, just more angry. Maybe they had bad Sunday School experiences. But then “a fool says in his heart, ‘There is no god,'” so we may be talking about complete irrationality here.
On the other side of the coin, you get people like http://www.churchoffreethought.org/ who are reasonable. Wrong, but reasonable about it.
However, I suspect that a lot of Liberal ideologies will get shriller and shriller as they lose power (due to the different fertility rates).
I think you said it before, Ori. When you define your life in terms of a problem, you can’t surrender to a decent solution or you will be surrendering your reason for living.
Marvin Olasky has a column in the current World Magazine about liberals being angry about anything. He pointed to another columnist, a liberal, who said he can’t tell the left is any less angry now that Mr. Obama is in office than they were before. In fact, they seem angrier, compared to the right.
This is all the more reason the rest of us should avoid anger. We have the higher ground. Let just use it and stop talking about fighting fire with fire.
Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire – but this isn’t Afghanistan or Iraq. All we need to do is hold them off, raise our kids, and let nature take its course.
I’m not sure that really works. I’m sure demographics and birth rates have some effect, but you have to bear in mind that the secular Left controls pretty much all our education, and all our popular culture. Religious people bear the children, and then (speaking very broadly) turn them over to atheists to be informed.
I’m more optimistic than you are. We seem to be developing cultural antibodies, such as MSM bypassing blogs and home schooling.
