Possibly insulting to Muslims–very good point to raise here. I hope nothing unseemly happens this publisher.
But it probably won’t. The imams whip their radicals into frenzy only for select political advantages, and passing insults to us aren’t one of them.
Ha, ha. Very funny.
Muslims revere Jesus as a prophet, not God. Therefore, they already believe some parts of the Gospel to be false. Saying that there was once a good man called Jesus, whose words were later twisted to make a scoundrel Christ, might be right up their alley.
There’s something to that, Ori. However, Pullman’s position is explicitly atheist–that God had nothing whatever to do with Jesus. Muslims teach that Allah had everything to do with Issa (their name for Jesus).
But Phil’s probably correct.
