The interview on Issues, Etc. happened after all. My thanks to the interviewer, in case he shows up here. Never did get his name.
Special thanks to our friend Hunter Baker, who shilled for me by calling in and pretending to be a mere mortal. If I’d been thinking on my feet, I’d have said, โIs this HUNTER BAKER, the famous author of The End of Secularism, published by Crossway?โ
But of course I was thinking on another part of my body, and it didn’t happen.
Thanks too, either to Dr. Gene Edward Veith or Pastor Paul T. McCain. I’m pretty sure one of them twisted somebody’s arm in St. Louis to get me on the show, but I don’t know which it is.
At some point the Issues, Etc. people will make the interview available for download over at the site.
Listen to it for me. I don’t think I have the nerve.
Hey, I was all ready to spend the rest of your time on the show talking about how awesome the Lars Walker canon is, but they basically dumped me after my hastily concocted question! And THEY knew who I was! I think that must just be standard procedure.
I thought you did a great job on the show. Very interesting stuff.
Thanks. That’s a comfort. I am currently wracked with doubts.
You did a great job, Lars! Almost no “ahhs” or “umms,” and the material was quite good. I learned something.
I thought you did a fine job dealing with the questions, Lars.
– anything you wished you’d said?
Here’s a link to the show;

I don’t have any major “shouldasaidthats.” It went OK. I just worry about how I sounded. Even though I used to be an announcer, it’s been a long time.
You sounded like a great middle aged professor to me, Lars. Knowledgeable and authoritative, but also modest.
I don’t think I can get a better notice than that.
I thought you sounded very good. You know, I’m going to email Prime Time America.
Yeah, the interview was very good. I’m a regular listener of the Issues, Etc. show. It’s a very good Lutheran talk show. The interviewers name is Pastor Todd Wilken. I was quite surprised to hear you on there because I’ve never heard a single mention of the AFLC, and when I was at AFLTS I had no idea you were a writer. So, a pleasant surprise.
Just so you all know, their episodes are always available for download the following day. So you can get the interview either from iTunes or issuesetc.org.
Thanks, Dan. I was very pleased they mentioned the AFLC every time they ID’d me. Probably a sticky point for Missourians.
Whoa! Here’s something else I’d missed. Thanks for the link and comments. I look forward to listening to this… in just a few minutes.
I suggested you as a guest to Jeff Schwarz, the Issues, Etc. producer. I’ve enjoyed your novels and thought that both the historical aspects and the potential to counteract the feminization of Christianity were worth an interview.
Well thanks for that, Steve. It always surprises me to learn I have a reader I don’t already know personally.
