A Coronet to find!
Who never thirsted
Flagons, and Cooling Tamarind!”

On Saturday I was listening to “The Pastor’s Study” with Tom Brock. His guest, T. David Gordon, author of “Why Johnny Can’t Preach,” mad a comment that stuck with me when he mentioned how poetry teaches us to read more carefully. I hadn’t thought of it that way before. But, the more I think about it, the more I see how good poetry uses precision in the choice of words and the construction of phrases to convey deeper meaning. It takes careful reading to draw the imagery out. Such careful reading of poetry trains one’s mind to pay more attention when reading prose.
I attend Pastor Brock’s church.
