West Oversea is far better, and I don’t mind saying so myself. Seriously, pick it up if you haven’t yet.
I have to disagree. YOTW was better than West Oversea. The storyline flowed more smoothly and the characters were introduced more thoroughly. The action in West Oversea was more constant, but that precluded filling in the canvas with background details.
Hmmm – elves.
You know what one of the Inklings (and I think it might have been Hugh Dyson) said during Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” readings?
“Not another bloody elf!”
Because I’m in New Zealand, and, really, we’ve had a gutsful of elves.
