  1. I recently read The Collected Poems of A.A. Milne to my youngest daughter. I think his poetry was better than his Winnie The Pooh stories. While written in a simplistic style for children, the thoughts expressed were deep enough to give an adult fodder to muse upon.

As for spring, I just made up a poem of my own about a sure sign of spring in my house.

    He gazes at finches

    Thinking how to get fat

    Out of cover he inches

    The orange tabby cat

    His tail he twitches

    When suddenly splat

    The window he hitches

    The orange tabby cat

  2. My mom recognized my poetical genius years ago when she said, “He’s a poet. He don’t know it. His feet show it. They’re Long Fellows.”
