“Celtic mythology, Arthurian romance, and an intriguing interpretation of British history” is what’s in store within the new translation of an old Welsh book from the Middle Ages, The Mabinogion. No, I haven’t heard of it either, but it’s bound to have some great material even if it’s a bit hard to read.

I have a version, the one with the Alan Lee illustrations. After Alan Lee, I can’t imagine buying a different version.
Oh, that would be a good edition. Does it have many illustrations? If you’ve read on version already, I’d guess the only reason to get a new one is that you’re dissatisfied with the reading in the first one.
The illustrations are outstanding. I think the one I have was published in England.
You’re in for a treat with Kilwych and Olwen (no doubt misspelled), the weirdest Arthuian story ever. It’s clipping along fine, and then, BAM! A three page long list of the names of all of Arthur’s knights. It seems to read like a mini-encyclopedia of Celtic hero myths, which is probably about what it is.
I haven’t read the other stories in the Mabinogion, though. I got the book for an Arthurian legends class in college.
