Voted, and — no — I don’t read literary mags. Outside of the classics, most things in the literary style come across as pompous and self-absorbed. I tried reading an edition (2003, perhaps) of The Best American Short Stories and was struck by the fact that almost all the characters weren’t American. African, Indian, Hatian, but not American. Strange, no?
I’ve noticed that too and thought the immigrant angle or overseas setting added the interest in an otherwise regular story. You may be right, though, if you are thinking it’s a kind of anti-American bias or opposition to normal American life.

Does Baen’s Universe count? I prefer my stories longer, but sometimes I read it.
