Just fyi, I fought with the winner of this fight a couple weeks back, and scared him. Not because of my prowess, but because I’d picked up some unsafe fighting habits, and he was afraid I’d hurt him.

It’s not about pushing or advancing, but about where you place your blows. We have been going for “high” shots (shoulder level), while they never strike higher than the upper arm. They also avoid aiming blows at the upper part of the shield, because it’s more likely to get pushed into the face and cause an injury. I’ve got some re-learning to do.
