The loser in this fight appears to be proper aggressive, which I point out because of previous videos in which the loser played defense or too cautiously. I feel bad that he didn’t get the right blow in while chasing the spearman.
We usually allow blows to the upper legs, but not the lower. However, two fighters who work together a lot may work out a “move” that involves such things for dramatic purposes.
This sort of thing provides an insight into historical texts such as Julius Caesar’s record of the invasion of Britain. Being female, and not asthletic, I’ve never given the realities of sword-fighting much thought, hence my interest in the Friday footage.
If I may ask, during these recreations, how do you keep yourself from getting an adrenaline rush and causing real damage to your opponent?

He was handicapped by our safety rules, which prevent you from striking the head or lower limbs.
What about that leg sweep we saw a couple weeks ago? Are the lower limbs not the legs?

The hazing ritual for all participants beats that out of you.
It’s a matter of training. Overenthusiasm is indeed a danger, which is why we require a training period before anyone is allowed to participate.
