In the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, a woman has given the Hennepin County Library $646,000 for books the public is reading. The late Lillian Wallis worked in the Minneapolis library system for many years as well as other libraries since graduating in 1950.
Fabulous donation, but…”books the public is reading”?
There’s hardly anything else in my library–tons of Danielle Steele, next to no Dickens or Trollope.
Not exactly a treasurebox.
I was afraid of that too, but I couldn’t tell from the article that she was leaning toward Danielle Steele. Active recommendations would probably help many library users. That and an annual viking encampment.
Heh.
